How do you make sure bad things don’t happen? Controls! In this workshop, learn how to define risks and apply controls to mitigate the risks – without creating a burdensome bureaucracy. The GAO’s 2014 Green Book (Standards for Internal Control in the Federal Government) will be our guide.

Course objectives include:

  • Define business risks
  • Apply the Green Book and COSO model to those risk
  • Determine if the Green Book is applicable to your operations
  • Determine when application of the Green Book is required

Leita Hart-Fanta, CPA, CGAP, CGFM has developed curriculum and taught seminars for hundreds of audit teams including Walmart, Schlumberger, Valero, Sandia Labs, the Veteran’s Administration, the University of Texas and the City of San Francisco. She also teaches courses for local IIA Chapters around the country. Leita started her audit career in public accounting and regularly conducts training for CPA firms on auditing standards. She is the author of over a dozen books on auditing and accounting, including essential audit skills, risk assessment, audit reporting, audit standards, and accounting essentials.

Leita’s two best sellers are the McGraw-Hill book “Accounting Demystified” and the self-study course “The Yellow Book Interpreted.” Leita is an experienced facilitator, having led over 1200 full or multi-day seminars. She has also keynoted numerous conferences and developed over 25 distinct courses and speeches.

She was named an “Outstanding Presenter” by the Institute of Internal Auditors in 2014.
